One Poem

For every brave soldier that
lost life in the war in Iraq,
we will write a poem.

We will not call you a casualty.
We will not number you. You are
our mothers and fathers, our aunts
and uncles, brothers and sisters,
husbands and wives, friends, lovers
and neighbors, our cousins
and grandparents. You are our
country, our freedom.

We will write for you.

We will remember you.

I appreciate your efforts to pay homage to your country's brave soldiers..
God bless those souls. Not only American soldiers, all soldiers of all countries, who fought for their mother land...

I've written about your Operation Poem in my blog today, and I'll be posting your link to the poetry boards that I frequent. I think we need to remember sometimes, need to have it brought home, that this war has a face - has many faces - and they deserve to be remembered.

I have told my writing group about this idea. You can count me in for at least one poem.
This is a wonderful thing you are doing!

Brilliant idea. The simpler ones are usually the best. I followed a link from Lyle's blog here.

I want to thank you for your page. I am a soldier, serve 2 (two) 16 month tours in Iraq and lost great friends. I wish more Americans were like you
